how exactly would you do a multi level building floor by floor? Not certain you can water test that way. What's our options then?

im doing a commercial drain pipe- 1.5" line to a sink, tying into existing 2" cast iron drain. would it be up to code to use PVC schedule 40, or is it a local code I'd need to check?

So I’m currently installing a new black steel compressed air line. It just so happens that the existing line the customer is using is all pvc. I’m not allowed to shut off the air due to the business still being operational. How worried should I be about this happening?

I sure wish the Dowds would embrace the old Gold mines on the property and create some kind of mini museum for tourists and even local residents to understand some of the history, literally, in their backyard. Probably one of the last chances to do so before everything gets built over.

nonsense i have an air tester rated at 3 bar test and 6 bar test for plastic. there are two prv for safety, JG plastics can withstand at least 30 bar so do the math and get a kit like mine before passing such a severe judgment.

My plumber doesn’t test with water he doesn’t test with air either. Actually he test with a lack of air. He puts a vacuum on it to get negative pressure.

I love the idea of this but who takes that long to cement a pipe joint like that? Also who in the field is going to wear gloves. You don’t have to over exaggerate the process to sell connect tite, I would buy right now if it were available in my municipality

If you really want it to last a long time dab some Permatex or tar on the cut ends before inserting them into the rubber so the cast iron is waterproofed like it’s supposed to be. Every time I take an old cast iron pipe out the ground or ceiling it’s degraded at the bottom of couplings

Can you use 2 pieces of 48" of 4x4 sandwiched together like this -II- and a sledge hammer to hammer a full length 8" pipe into the hub? Or will the wood just absorb the blow and now push the pipe in? Anyone try this before?

Unfortunately, the state of Idaho REQUIRES pressure testing of PVC plumbing for rough in inspection. Belive me, I don't want to. I am curious, though, does pressure testing (in addition to being dangerous) damage the solvent welded joints? Our glue on test caps have failed. I am having all manner of problems.

Hey Charlotte Pipe, in the spirit of safe science, excluding the external factors mentioned like temperate, and general atmospheric pressure, were these demonstrated failures roughly around or above the rated psi on the pipe?
